One Name, Two Realities

This township of Soná has 1,286 inhabitants in 2023 and an area of 158.6 km². Its average altitude is 574 m above sea level. It is important to clarify that there is another corregimiento called Calidonia in Panama City

It is believed that its name honors an indigenous cacique named Calidonia, who stood out for his struggle in favor of the welfare of his community. This township is mentioned in the context of road infrastructure projects, such as the construction of the San José - Calidonia - Platanares - Pixvae road, also boosting tourism in the region.
