Rodeo Viejo has 1,749 inhabitants in 2023 and an area of 122.5 km². This corregimiento is known for its cattle ranching activity, an important part of the local economy.

However, it has also been identified that part of its population lives in conditions of multidimensional poverty. It includes localities such as Juncal, El Nay, Los Algarrobos and Coibita.
